Kenrick-Glennon Seminary

Kenrick-Glennon Seminary

Kenrick-Glennon Seminary, located in St. Louis, serves as a vital center for the formation of Catholic priests, primarily for the Archdiocese of St. Louis and other dioceses across the country. Its mission is to prepare men for the priesthood through rigorous formation in four key areas: human, spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral development. This comprehensive approach ensures that seminarians are well-equipped to serve their future congregations and fulfill their pastoral duties with dedication and excellence.

The seminary plays a crucial role within the Archdiocese of St. Louis by fostering strong ties between seminarians and local communities. Through apostolic work in parishes, seminarians connect with parishioners and clergy, building relationships that inspire vocations and deepen the faithful’s understanding of the priesthood. This engagement strengthens the Archdiocese by cultivating well-rounded and community-oriented priests.

Kenrick-Glennon Seminary also benefits the universal Church by hosting seminarians from numerous dioceses and religious orders, promoting a spirit of global fraternity. With its commitment to high-quality priestly formation, it contributes to the Church’s mission by ensuring that priests worldwide are prepared to address modern challenges while remaining faithful to Catholic teachings.

The seminary has ongoing needs, including financial support for operational costs, scholarships for seminarians, and maintaining its facilities. Contributions from individuals, parishes, and benefactors are essential to sustain its mission and ensure the formation of future leaders of the Church.

The Challenge

Working for a seminary to promote vocations was a deeply meaningful role for me as an empathetic photojournalist and, as a Catholic. It  allowed me to use my creative skills to tell the powerful stories of seminarians—their struggles, joys, and dedication to their calling. Capturing these moments would not only inspire others to consider the priesthood but also strengthen the connection between the seminary and its supporters.

It was a chance to contribute to a mission that’s both personal and universal, supporting the formation of compassionate leaders who will guide and serve the faithful for generations to come.
